Author Sara Barnard brings us a new twist to an American Classic. Old Amarillo~Amish Journeys #1

Upon returning from her Rumspringa in New York City, Katie Knepp is certain of her need to remain Amish. However, the memories of her newfound independence have left her thirsting for more adventure than can be found on her family’s farm in Gasthof Village, Indiana. After praying for guidance she remembers a conversation about a bee-keeping Mennonite settlement in the wilds of west Texas and the tugging of her heartstrings almost makes the decision for her. Leaving her parents proved hard enough, but leaving her twin sister Annie and hopeful fiancĂ© Peter Wagler made getting out of Indiana almost impossible. Katie learns all too early in her journey that the trail to Texas is a rough one, laced with barbed wire fences that stretch for miles, railroads that attract would-be could-be bandits, and a drought so severe that even turning back isn’t an option

Old Amarillo is Sara’s second Amish work and seventh novel over all. Her previous publications include the Everlasting Heart series: A Heart on Hold, A Heart Broken, A Heart at Home, and A Heart Forever Wild—all of which were best sellers on Amazon. A Heart on Hold was a finalist for the 2012 Romance Novel Excellence award in Historical Romantic Fiction. Rebekah’s Quilt, Sara’s first Amish novel, has been her best-selling book overall and was a contender for the 2013 RONE award in Inspirational Fiction. All of these titles are from 5 Prince Publishing. I also have a western series for middle grade readers from Prairie Rose Publications titled The Saga of Indian Em’ly as well as a stand-alone Christian Western titled The Calling. I am a member of the Western Writers of America and the Western Fictioneers. When I am not being a mother to my four wonderfully diverse children, wife to my Army Infantry veteran husband, working toward my Master’s Degree in Wildlife Conservation, or rescuing our next potential fur-baby, I spend my days teaching 6th grade Social Studies, Reading, and Writing.
